Two-minute setup
From master bus to iPhone.
Set up the normal local listening route first. You only need Logic Pro, GarageBand, or a compatible VST3 host, the BONKO iPhone app, and both devices on the same Wi-Fi.
Step 1
Install the plugin and app
Download the complete macOS or Windows package, run its installer, and get the iPhone/iPad companion from the App Store.
Step 2
Load BONKO on the master
- Open your Mac or Windows DAW.
- Find BONKO Streamer under Audio Units → PhilTheBeat in Logic, or in your DAW's VST3 browser.
- Insert it on the master/output channel after the processing you want to hear.
- Keep the plugin window open so you can scan its QR code.
- For a mono compatibility check, switch MONO ON. It affects both DAW output and phone stream.
Logic Pro: use the included Audio Unit. If it does not appear immediately, restart Logic and open Plug-in Manager to rescan it.
Step 3
Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi
Connect the computer and iPhone/iPad to the same normal Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often isolate devices from each other and are not suitable.
- Turn off VPNs temporarily if the devices cannot connect.
- If iOS asks for Local Network access, allow it for BONKO.
- If macOS Firewall or Windows Defender Firewall prompts for your DAW, allow incoming private-network connections.
Step 4
Scan, connect, press play
- Open BONKO on your iPhone or iPad.
- Choose the QR scanner and point it at the code in the desktop plugin.
- Wait for the connected state.
- Press play in your DAW and set a safe listening level on the phone.
Connected: the normal stream now travels directly across your local network. You can lock the phone screen and keep listening.
Optional beta
Share outside your network
Share Stream is separate from the local workflow. When you explicitly create a share link, the desktop side opens a temporary third-party tunnel through localhost.run. Anyone with a valid link may be able to hear that live session while it remains active.
- Only share with people you trust.
- Do not assume the link is private or permanent.
- Stop sharing when the listening session is finished.

If something does not connect
Run the 30-second check
Confirm same Wi-Fi, leave guest mode, disable VPN, allow local network/firewall access, and reopen the plugin window. Then scan a fresh QR code.
