Privacy, in plain language.

BONKO has no user account, advertising, or in-app analytics. Normal listening stays on your local Wi-Fi. Optional external sharing is a separate route you deliberately start.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for BONKO Streamer and this website is:

Jan Philipp Joseph Bednorz (Phil the Beat)
Chamissostraße 23, 50825 Köln, Germany
Email: info@phil-thebeat.com
Further provider details: Impressum

2. BONKO app and local listening

BONKO Streamer does not require a user account and does not contain an advertising or analytics SDK.

Camera

The camera is used only when you choose to scan the QR code shown by the desktop plugin. The image is processed on the device for code recognition. BONKO does not store or upload camera images.

Local network

The app connects to the BONKO Streamer plugin on your Mac or Windows computer to receive live audio. In the normal same-Wi-Fi workflow, that traffic stays between your devices on the local network. iOS may ask you to grant Local Network access.

Background audio

BONKO uses iOS background-audio capability so an active stream can continue when the screen is locked. This does not itself collect personal data.

3. Optional external Share Stream

External sharing is not part of the normal local route. Only when you explicitly choose Share Stream does the desktop plugin create a temporary tunnel using third-party infrastructure operated by localhost.run.

The resulting link lets a recipient outside your local network reach the live session. In that case, audio and connection data necessarily leave your local network and pass through the third-party network path. BONKO does not record or intentionally store the streamed audio.

A share URL should be treated as a bearer link: a person who receives a valid active link may be able to listen. Stop the session when sharing is no longer needed.

4. This website

This static website does not set analytics cookies, use marketing pixels, create accounts, or collect information through a web form.

When you request a page, the web server may process technical request data such as IP address, time, requested path, response status, referrer, and user agent. This is necessary to deliver and secure the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in reliable and secure operation under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Server logs are typically retained for up to 14 days. They may be deleted earlier or preserved longer only where needed to investigate a security incident or meet a legal obligation.

External downloads and app links

The desktop package is delivered by GitHub. The iOS beta or release is delivered by Apple. When you follow those links, the respective provider receives normal request data and its own privacy terms apply.

5. Support email

If you contact support, we process your email address, message, and any diagnostic details you choose to send so we can answer and resolve the request. The legal basis is taking steps at your request or performing our product relationship under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, and our legitimate interest in product support under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Please do not include passwords, private share links, unreleased audio, or other data that is not needed to understand the issue.

6. Your rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.

To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, email info@phil-thebeat.com. We may need enough information to verify and locate the relevant support correspondence.

7. Changes

We will update this page when BONKO's data flows, third-party services, or legal requirements materially change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
